SOFTWARE TESTING

TEST SOLUTIONS WITH HIGHEST PRECISION

Our test team consists of experienced software engineers who have been working for major German OEMs for years. In addition to its reliability, the team impresses above all with its international orientation. This is characterized by the large number of languages spoken (including English, German, Korean, Cantonese and Mandarin), as well as by locations in Germany and China. Our team is therefore perfectly familiar with the requirements of different markets. As experts in the field of infotainment, autonomous driving and V2X, we offer standardized and individual test solutions as following:

INFOTAINMENT TEST

HMI stands for “Human-Machine Interface”. Our tests mainly Focus on the interaction between different functional interfaces of the on-board infotainment system and the accuracy of speech output. We approach this process from the customer’s perspective, which is why the aspects of comfort and reliability offered by the HMI are tested particularly intensely in order to achieve the best possible user experience. In addition, our team can test specifically for the usage habits of Asian customers to make the system even more intuitive and convenient for them.

By using CANoe we simulate the signals of a CAN bus and the MOST communication interface. We use professional software kits, such as VAS, iDEX, Atan, GNlogger and DiagnoseUI to analyze the communication of the ECU in the vehicle and perform real-time monitoring of Trace as well as HMI & Text Review Tool test.

Our tests include all types of media in a vehicle’s internal infotainment system, so we test among others:

  • Jukeboxes
  • Internal drives
  • DVD changers
  • SD/USB storage devices
  • MTP devices
  • iPods
  • AUX-in
  • Bluetooth players
  • WLAN connection

In addition to the basic functional tests, we carry out special interaction and more complex action tests in order to exclude all errors that may occur from the customer’s perspective.

The online tests mainly focus on the Multi-Media Infotainment System (MMI) and the online connection function. When using Internet access, vehicle information is sent via a data connection and an online client to a third-party server, which then transmits the requested information back to the MMI. During this process, we monitor the execution of the system functions and the decentralized HMI display.

In our system tests we check a number of vehicle-relevant functions. These include:

  • Software unit tests
  • Sound effect management
  • Infotainment systems
  • Language switching options
  • Vehicle operating safety software
  • System performance management

SDS is short for “Speech Dialog System”. It allows users to operate a wide range of functions by voice control, which greatly improves driver safety and user-friendliness. To ensure that this runs smoothly worldwide, we test the SDS in particular for the different linguistic habits of Asian countries and check compatibility with different languages.

During the tests of the instrument clusters we check the communication between the instrument cluster, the main unit and the GUI interface. Using tools such as BAPviewer, CANoe and OptoLyzer we can test and simulate signals, ensuring that the instruments work correctly with each other.

During the phone tests we review the connection between the car and the user’s smartphone. Among other things, we check the functions of:

  • Phone and data connection
  • Conference calls
  • Bluetooth connection
  • Phone settings
  • Download of the phone book

In this way we can promise the users an optimally functioning connection of their devices.

IOP is short for “interoperability”. Its tests provide an overview of whether the devices are properly connected and function as intended. This is particularly necessary when systems from different manufacturers are used and their compatibility is to be verified.

Our IOP Testing Team offers a variety of specialized test methods, which also include the connection between different smartphones and the vehicle. A connection is established via the Bluetooth communication protocols HFP, A2SP, PBAP and SAP. By integrating a wide range of Bluetooth protocols and application tests, a simple and reliable user experience can be ensured.

We support OEMs in testing their navigation systems for speed, accuracy and compatibility with third-party devices and apps. Our in-depth analysis and testing of navigation solutions allows us to test all features in the following categories:

  • Destination entry
  • Visual and voice guidance
  • Connected content and POIs
  • Vehicle positioning on the map
  • Route calculation and routing
  • System performance

TEST FOR AUTONOMOUS DRIVING

For the validation of driver assistance systems, we offer various services that can cover the entire development process. The services offered include model-in-the-loop tests for conceptual system design, software-in-the-loop tests for software development, hardware-in-the-loop tests for system hardware development and road tests in real vehicles.

During validation, which accompanies the entire development process, we work with experienced technical personnel who not only carry out system tests, but also develop test strategies and test cases. This ensures complete test coverage and allows system errors to be identified at an early stage. As a result, in the event of an error, the need for extensive troubleshooting and reconstruction in a later development phase is eliminated. In addition, we can optimize existing validation strategies, reduce the test scope to a minimum and, if necessary, automate it, and achieve cost and time savings.

V2X TEST

Especially in highly sensitive areas such as vehicle development, it is important that newly developed functions are checked for all eventualities and use cases. By means of signal simulation through the ZD Box we can perform these vehicle-related function tests for V2X applications. This includes among others.

  • Checking of the vehicle status (doors, windows, tank capacity, range, total driving distance and much more)
  • Remote unlocking of the doors
  • Display of the vehicle location on the smartphone
  • Vehicle location in case of theft
  • Control of the charging function
  • Remote controlled air conditioning and heating
  • Remote display of vehicle data records
  • Readout of vehicle maintenance information
  • Automatic reservation of the vehicle inspection

By developing and testing V2X system functions, we can support the development and smooth use of the connection between vehicles and their environment.
